Advice to the National Rifle Association

NRAProbably you’re seeing a massive amount of new memberships, renewals, and donations coming in at the NRA, or at least I hope so. Please do not harass the new members with relentless marketing requests and asking for more donations, it drives them away. It drove me away in the 1990s for several years, and others have noted the same problem and also left the NRA because of it.

I joined again several years ago, and again quickly became frustrated with the endless requests for donation, both email and snail mail, and the waste-of-money junk mail from you. The solution: I called in and got myself removed from those lists. It’s been very nice ever since. I get the American Rifleman each month (last time I chose digital), and a renewal notice once a year, and that’s it. Perfect.

Of course those endless requests for money must pay off and it is of course for a most worth cause, but alienating a lot of would-be members isn’t smart. So I suggest you make it a lot easier to opt out of that massive email/mail harassment. Or tone it down from the start. Either way, that’s my advice to the NRA.

This is the exact reason why I cancelled my membership.

I agree, I even have them calling “EVERY” day, even Sunday. We had a great training team in central virginia too but they ruined that and 36 instructors under me have quit instructing. Training department soaked up lies from some A-holes and there you have it. I do nothing more for them neither do my instructors.

Right on. I quit the NRA for that very same reason. The harassment was insane including constant phone calls. Don’t know if I want to go through that again when there are other resources to support.

Ditto to this post and the comments. I really felt the majority of my money was being pissed away on trying to get me to give more money. Between the harassment and the squishy feel of their support for 2A (versus “Sports”), I left a few years ago.

    Gents,
I want to reiterate; Just call them, tell them to stop the mail/email BS, and they will. You’ll just get your magazine and and a renewal reminder, none of the other crap. Right now we need to get cash to them to help fight the left’s anti-gun propaganda campain.
